How to increase your income from your vacation home

One method that I use to increase income from my vacation home is to charge for additional person.
Make sure the charge is affordable, otherwise guests may just lie to you.

For example, if your holiday rental property can sleep 4 person on proper beds, but there are extra space for them to sleep on floor, then you should take this opportunity to allow them to add additional people.
Just charge a minimum fee like $10 per person per night. With this fee, give them towel, mattress, bed sheet set, pillow.  You will easily recover your cost of each set after they stay 5 nights.  
Just by offering this option at very affordable price I have managed to increase my income and recover back my cost many times over.

Excuses holiday rental clients give

Holiday rental clients can be a demanding lot.
I just had 1 family check out after just 1 night stay, giving all kinds of reasons for moving out, when in actual fact, they just want to have the shopping mall at their doorstep.  They had initially booked for 5 nights, but at time of check in informed they have some issues about their flight and so can only stay 4 nights.
Then after 1 night there, they now request to move out.
This is one type of client that you will face as vacation rental owner / manager.
